Surface Details is an exploration of the overlooked details, textures and patterns found all around us.
A new and ongoing series of work created in Stevie's studio at Banks Mill, developed from photographs and drawings, translated into mixed media artworks. Each piece is primarily made using fused glass techniques, metals, and found materials. A collection of new work can be seen at Banks Mill Studios 17 July - 4 August.
An ongoing design project creating a series of mixed media art works produced from original photos that
explore the overlooked details of our surroundings.
Send me your photos of interesting details and textures from your surroundings. Facebook, tweet or email me with your name, where the photo was taken (the name of the building or street etc) and your image. (Terms & conditions apply). You can find the full details of the project on the Surface Details Facebook Page.
For those interested in the process of the work I am running associated workshop sessions which concentrate on different aspects of development
Join me for one or more of these creative sessions which invite everyone to stop, breathe, and look at the finer details of your surroundings. I will take you through the idea of looking, photographing, drawing, and then collaging a variety of papers, fabrics, wires, and metals to produce your own creations. This is a free workshop with the idea that images and quotes about your experience are able to be used within other areas of the project, i.e. at exhibitions and for publicity. See the Surface Details Facebook Page for full information.
Other general fused glass workshops are available and can be seen on my WORKSHOPS page.
I am running a campaign as a way of spreading the word about my exhibitions, process, and public engagement work with a view to exhibiting the series at venues throughout the country. Take a look at the many exciting experiences and original artworks on offer for your support: Kickstarter Campaign.
